We are in the middle of summer and I wanted to share with you some of my favorite thrifted go to summer outfit combinations.
1. Graphic Tee + Skirts
I love me a good graphic tee. It’s casual and effortless. You can literally throw it on and go. And it’s easy to dress up or down. This summer, I have been pairing a lot of my graphic tees with midi-skirts. If you really want to make a statement try to pair your graphic tee with a whimsical statement skirt. Something with a vibrant print or a pleated skirt to add some texture to your look.
2. Graphic Tee + Shorts
Don’t have to explain to much on this outfit combination. I would say this is an outfit combination choice for many if you’re trying to stay cool during the warmer months. All I did was swap out my midi skirt with a pair of shorts. Any graphic tee will do if you wearing a basic denim short.
3. Midi Dresses
This LA summer has been way too hot to even put on pants so I have been reaching for my dresses more often. This dress is a striped midi wrap dress that I picked up a few weeks ago during my last thrift adventure. I wear this dress all the time. It’s lightweight, love the different shades of blue, it’s striped (ya’ll know I love my stripes!), and it has a belt around the waist that you can tie to help define my waistline and cinch me in.
What are some of your favorite summer outfits you are loving this summer? Until next time…
Summertime is here and gingham is always very popular during the summer months. Gingham is a very unique fabric. It has structure, but is lightweight. It has a very distinct textured weaving pattern on both sides. And it lives within the plaid family. Who doesn’t love a good plaid shirt. Gingham is definitely more spring/summer while plaid has all the fall vibes.
Clearly this gingham blazer is the shining star. I instantly fell in love when I spotted it. This look is a perfect summer work outfit, but if you want to make it more casual switch out the ankle length slacks for some jeans.
What are some of your favorite summer prints? I’m definitely looking to brighten up my wardrobe this summer so leave me a comment. Love getting inspiration from my readers.
I can’t begin to tell you how much I love and admire Sotela. They’re an all inclusive body positive sustainable brand that celebrates people in all their forms. No matter size, age, or gender. Their motto – “Made for humans, by humans”. And isn’t that just a beautiful thing to celebrate.
Being a black female on the more busty/curvy side of the spectrum I don’t always feel represented within the sustainable fashion community. So if you’re a sustainable brand that truly includes EVERYONE you get bonus points in my book. I also had the pleasure of meeting Hanna who is the founder and designer of Sotela at the Renegade Craft Festival this year. She was truly a breathe of fresh air and so kind. It’s nice meeting other people who are just as passionate about sustainable fashion as I am.
Now as soon as Sotela dropped their new SOL Collection I immediately fell in love with the Luna Wrap Dress. The marigold color was so vibrant and it’s a wrap dress! Need I say more? Well if you don’t know how awesome wrap dresses are, the wrap dress was invented by Diane Von Furstenberg (DVF) in 1974. The wrap dress is a must have in your wardrobe. It’s flattering on all body shapes/sizes, versatile, easy to wear, and style. So of course the Luna Wrap Dress had to come home with me. It was just perfect especially heading into summer.
Please check out Sotela and show them some love and support. If we want to keep the sustainable fashion movement alive we got to support are small sustainable businesses who are out their truly trying to make a difference. Until next time…
I wouldn’t say I’m the most colorful person when it comes to my wardrobe. But I do like playing in colors. My go-to’s would be maroon, emerald green, and navy blue. When I saw the official Pantone Spring/Summer 2019 color palette I wanted to put together an outfit showing off these spring color favorites.
I am in love with this look! The colorful pleated striped skirt is definitely the winner. I understand if some may shy away from a skirt that has so much color. But I decided to keep my top neutral with the big red heart as my pop color to tie the skirt into the overall outfit.
My accessories I kept it simple. I can’t go any where without my cat eye sunglasses, my shoes, and cross body bag are the same shade of pink matching one of the pink stripes in my skirt. Lastly, I don’t usually wear bracelets but I’ve learned to really like watches. I discovered Capitola and I wouldn’t say they are 100% sustainable, but they do care about the environment and are using recycled stainless steel to make their watches. Using recycled material is definitely a step in the right direction to help reduce waste.
So, did I nail this spring color palette look? Leave a comment let me know your thoughts.
I am bringing you all the drama today in this outfit. The top is Sachin & Babi that I grabbed from Rent the Runway (RTR). If you’ve been following me for a while you know I have a RTR monthly subscription. I love that I’m able to swap out pieces in my wardrobe without buying something new. Another bonus, I love fashion and designer labels. RTR allows me to try different designers, but not commit my wallet to it. Also most of the brands on RTR are not sustainable so I appreciate their rental business model since I am no longer purchasing from fast fashion brands. See below for outfit details.
Wearing all neutrals is definitely not a new fashion trend, but monochrome neutrals are still going to be a major trend this spring. In particular head-to-toe beige. What I love about neutrals is that it’s really easy to style. An all neutral look is clean, classy, and sophisticated. And if you love capsule wardrobes, neutrals are great pieces to add because they go with anything.
Even though all neutral looks are clean and classy you also don’t want it to be boring. When you have an absence of color there needs to be something that draws interest to the eye. One of my go-to neutral looks plays with texture. I love to pair my fuzzy short-sleeved cardigan with a basic white or light colored tee with my light beige distressed boyfriend jeans. It adds a little fun to the look.
I like to keep my accessories simple as well to stay with the classic and natural tone of the look. With this outfit I chose to wear my gold hoop earrings, a medium length coin necklace, two dainty jeweled rings, along with my light grey ankle booties. Perfectly chic head-to-toe neutral look for Spring.
